The thing they don’t tell you about singing is the amazing places and adventures it can take you on. I sang on holiday in Portugal and ended up living and working out there for two years, then I was in Spain for a year, then I ended up in Memphis Tenn. I remember putting Elvis’ American Trilogy on a juke box in a diner in Memphis and this guy looking up and saying. “That’s the national anthem in these parts son”. Man, I love Memphis.

Anyway I came home and got involved with a very shady lot in a band called X Certificate. After some work and a think we decided to be like a heavy covers band, Sex Pistols, Elvis, T Rex stuff like that and I don’t really quite know how but for a little while we were “the band” we quite literally jumped from the pubs of the mighty East End to roof gardens with bloody flamingos. We were quite the thing on the celebrity circuit too playing for all sorts. I won’t bore you but my favourite was Dennis Waterman. He knows how to party and he was in The Sweeny so it’s a fair cop.

By day and some nights we wrote and recorded our own stuff. After a while like most bands that don’t have road crew and roadies we split, but we are all still in the game and love each other deeply. I just dyed my hair black and suited up.⚡️

Me on the telly with my other band ‘The Firebirds’ – we were regulars on Ideal World and sold out every time we appeared!
